Kiryandongo Video Advocates (kVA)
Kiryandongo Video Advocate (KVA), is a distinguished Refugee-Host youth led Community Based Organization (CBO) which is legally registered and we are a non-profit organization, dedicated to fostering sustainable community development through advocacy, education, and empowerment driving social change among the people in Africa through impactful Video Advocacy as an approach to our implementation. KVA areas of focus are Advocacy, Environmental conservation and sustainable Agriculture, Economic Empowerment, Education and Health. Over the years, KVA has been implementing activities in the local communities where refugees as well as the host communities through generous funding from different partners both locally and internationally. We are committed to enhancing the quality of life for individuals and families in Uganda and beyond while upholding the highest standards of Excellence, Integrity, Collaboration and inclusiveness.

As a member of the ASKnet (Access to Skills and Knowledge Network), KVA works at the intersection of digital media, civic engagement, and grassroots advocacy. Our mission is to equip refugee and host community youth with the tools and skills they need to tell their own stories, influence policy, and build a more inclusive and informed society.

What would you do in an area where your health depends on the cellular network? This film brings to light how many mothers are losing life in the refugee settlements of Uganda because they cannot call for help at the time of need due to poor network system/coverage.
So touching story that she went through and it has become part of her life losing all her Family. Due to war she remained in darkness! The Film was Acted by the Basic Video Advocates Trained by Refugee Law Project in Gulu-Nothern Uganda
This 7-minutes film was collectively produced by a group of 19 youth from the refugee and host community of Kiryandongo refugee settlement in Kiryandongo district.

This documentary follows Dawa Gloria, a South Sudanese refugee and single mother living in Kiryandongo refugee settlement, as she transforms her life through catering. After receiving training from a local video advocate, Dawa discovers a passion for baking and food value addition. She then empowers her community by training others in these skills, fostering self-reliance and enabling her to provide for her children’s education despite the ongoing challenges of refugee life.
This is a documentary film talking about challenges faced by persons living with disability, the support they get and the resilience they exhibit amidst the hardships of living in a refugee settlement.
